KEEP IT GREEN!?

March 18th, 2010

Seeing as our North American office is located in Chicago, where the city river is colored green every year on St. Patrick’s Day, we thought that it would be kinda fun to do some “greenifying” ourselves.

null

Therefore we’re putting up a SteelSeries Siberia Full-size Headphones to the SteelSeries Facebook fan, who posts the best greenified IRL or in-game photo in our fan album section. Our judges will pick from the five most “liked” entries, and the winners will be picked on the 22nd of March - so you got the weekend to go crazy with your camera and photo editing app. ;)

Check the SteelSeries Facebook fan page for more info. Below is a few of the entries so far:

Kicking off the week in style…

March 15th, 2010

WoodTV and Elite Bastards published each of their SteelSeries product reviews today, which both turned out to be too good not to mention. Check below for a few snippets of the reviews and direct links. :)

null

WoodTV on the SteelSeries Xai - quote:
“In the description, SteelSeries says the Xai is a “tool - not a gadget… The technology, shape, size, weight and surface of the SteelSeries Xai were designed with one purpose: to enhance the users performance.” To that I have to say: mission accomplished. I loved testing this mouse and if I needed a new one would have to strongly consider it. It’s definitely up there with the top gaming mice I’ve reviewed.”

null

Elite Bastards on the SteelSeries Siberia v2 Headset - quote:
“Overall then, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed using the Siberia v2 throughout my time with the unit, to the point where it’s become the first device I reach for when I need some headphones (and I do have a fair few pairs laying around these days). If you need a gaming headset, then the Siberia v2 really is nearly faultless for this particular task, and even for the more casual gamers or those who require a microphone from time to time, this unit also doubles up admirably as a good pair of headphones in their own right, particularly if you prefer over-ear to in-ear devices for that particular task.”

Last weeks grand slam events were nothing but an incredible ride for the SteelSeries teams.

First off, at the Intel Extreme Masters World Championships in Germany, Team EG grabbed the World of Warcraft PvP trophy, followed up by SK Gaming’s Shane “Rapha” Hendrixson taking home gold in the QuakeLive tournament and finally Fnatic and SK Gaming grabbed 2nd and 3rd place in the Counter-Strike tournament.

null

Rapha used the first SteelSeries 7H Headset prototype to win the EM World Championships.

Additionally, at this years’ largest Call of Duty 4 grand slam event, the Crossfire Challenge 7 in the Netherlands, Fnatic managed to take 1st place and Power Gaming 3rd.

Want to become a StarCraft II pro?

March 5th, 2010

null

On the 18th of February, Fnatic kicked off their StarCraft II Rookie Draft and I wanted to make sure you guys are aware of this project. :)

Basically, the Rookie Draft opens up the possibility of 4 amateur StarCraft II players to become professional players in the Fnatic organization. The draft initially went through a 10-day phase of public ladder games to identify the top32 players, who where then announced yesterday in 8 different groups. Top2 of every group will eventually move on into playoffs where the final 4 players of the new Fnatic StarCraft II team will be found.

This way of recruiting players is extremely exciting and I’m eagerly following the progress. Check the Fnatic news posts below for more information on the draft.

Team EG’s American World of Warcraft team took a flawless road to the top of the podium this week in Hannover, as they swept the board completely at the Extreme Masters World Championships and went home with the $25,000 check.

Still to go is the Counter-Strike finals, where SK Gaming, Team EG and Fnatic represent 3/4 in the play-offs as well as the QuakeLive tournament where Rapha (SK Gaming) and DahanG (Team EG) are moving
